WWE: WrestleMania 36 Night Two Review - April 5th, 2020

WWE WrestleMania 36
Night Two - April 5th, 2020

1) Rhea Ripley (c) vs. Charlotte - NXT Women's Title Match

I'll go ahead and say it, the night peaked here. Awesome opener that definitely should've been higher in the card. Just great, classic traditional pro wrestling. Charlotte stuck to the leg work she began early on in route to the figure four and it obviously played into the finish. Everything here was well done, intriguing, and meant something. With a crowd, this probably could've been rated even higher, but even under these circumstances it's worth a look regardless. Charlotte wins the NXT Title in a huge moment! Interested to see where this leads!

Match rating - ****

2) Aleister Black vs. Bobby Lashley

Waste of time. Least it was quick and Aleister's black mass finish was cool.

Match rating - *3/4

3) Dolph Ziggler vs. Otis

Good blow-off for this grudge fueled off some shady things done by Ziggler. Otis gets his revenge, the victory, and leaves with Mandy Rose. Smiling faces all around!

Match rating - ***1/4

4) Randy Orton vs. Edge - Last Man Standing Match

I hate rating Edge's first match back this low, but man... this sucked. To me, this is the epitome of how boring wrestling without an audience could be. Almost 40 minutes and it could have easily been reduced to 20, esp since it was pre-taped. Way too much staggering, walking, and punching through the entire performance center. A few decent spots, but nothing that was able to wake me up from the sleep they put me in. Edge wins with a conchairto on top of one of the 18 wheelers. Let's forget this happened.

Match rating - **1/4

5) The Street Profits (c) vs. Angel Garza & Austin Theory - Raw Tag Team Title match

That Last Man Standing match killed the vibe so I can hardly care about this despite loving Garza and the Profits. It's your run of the mill tag title match. The Profits retain... moving on!

Match rating - **1/4

6) Bayley vs. Sasha Banks vs. Tamina vs. Naomi vs. Lacey Evans

This was okay, but was also far too long. The Bayley/Sasha/Lacey Evans involved stuff was all very good. Lacey almost got the win, but Bayley inches it out and retains.

Match rating - **1/2

7) John Cena vs. Bray Wyatt - Firefly Fun House Match

If you thought the Boneyard match was bizzare... you haven't seen SHIT. This was a complete mind-fuck and unlike with the Boneyard match, I haven't woke up and been able to tell if I loved or hated it or not lol. Definitely won't be giving it an actual rating like I gave Taker/Styles but this is definitely worth a look because it's fuckin nuts. More of a segment or.. performance than a match.

8) Brock Lesnar (c) vs. Drew McIntyre - WWE Title Match

This match could've kicked ass. Even under the circumstances, these two could have had an awesome contest. BUT it's 2020 and every title match is just five minutes of big moves and a pin so that's what we got. McIntyre wins on a weekend of two new young talents having meaningless matches to crown them as champions.. nice!

Match rating - **1/2

Final thoughts: Wow, I hate being so negative, but I don't have much love for Night Two at all. Night One was excellent despite some dumb finishes that I didn't like. Morrison/Kofi/Uso, Owens/Rollins, and Taker/Styles were all matches worth going out of your way to see in my opinion, with Bryan/Zayn to boot. Night Two was... Charlotte/Ripley, a crazy Wyatt/Cena segment, and a bunch of filler... gross. But glad McIntyre got his moment and thankful to WWE for putting so much effort into giving us a good show despite these circumstances. Plus it was loads of fun live chatting with everyone during all of this. I hope WWE continutes the two night format going forward!
