Ruthless Aggression Era Project: WWE Monday Night Raw Review - March 3rd, 2003

WWE Monday Night Raw
Match 3rd, 2003
Long Island, New York

World Heavyweight Champion: Triple H (since 12/15/02)
World Tag Team Champions: William Regal & Lance Storm (since 1/20/03)
WWE Women's Champion: Victoria (since 11/17/02)

Commentators - Jim Ross & Jerry "The King" Lawler

3 Minute Warning and Rico are in the parking lot waiting on Steve Austin to show up per Eric Bischoff’s orders.

TONIGHT: The Rock appears plus Booker T vs. Scott Steiner

Booker T opens the show. Last week, he won a battle royal to become #1 contender to Triple H’s World Heavyweight Title. They will face off at WrestleMania. For tonight, though, Triple H interrupts Book and deliver this infamous very racist and disgusting promo about how his “kind” aren’t meant to be champion and that he’s not a competitor, he’s an entertainer. Book says no matter what H says, he can’t take away the fact that he will be challenging him at WrestleMania. H says good luck making it there after facing Scott Steiner later tonight.

1) Jeff Hardy vs. Christian
Decent little match here. Hardy fights from underneath like he does best. Christian keeps things focused. Hardy goes for a twist of fate but Christian holds onto the ropes and hits the unprettier for the three count.

Match rating - **1/4

Eric Bischoff hands Lance Storm a pipe and tells him to give Stone Cold Steve Austin a warm welcome from him when he shows up to the arena later.

“Come on over here.” -Jerry Lawler to Chief Morley

Morley comes out to the ring and calls out Spike Dudley. He says if Spike can beat him tonight, he will reinstate Bubba & D-Von. But if Bubba & D-Von interfere they will be suspended indefinitely.

2) Spike Dudley vs. Chief Sean Morley

This turns out to just be a squash for Morley :/ at least Spike takes a good beating.

Match rating - *3/4

Backstage, Eric Bischoff talks Chris Jericho & Christian into being his THIRD line of defense against Austin when he shows up tonight. My god lol.

3) Victoria & Jazz vs. Trish Stratus & Jacqueline

Pretty solid match here in a time where the women’s matches were hit or miss. Trish & Jackie bring the fire. Jazz & Victoria don’t get along. Trish wins with the pin on the women’s champion herself, Victoria. Looks like we may be headed towards a match between the two at Mania.

Match rating - **

Lance Storm is waiting for Stone Cold to show up. Chief Morley walks up and says after what Austin did to Bischoff, “the Chief gets first crack” at Austin.

Coachman knocks on the Rock’s locker room door and gets him in the hall for an interview. Rock tells him to beat it and wash his ass. Rock goes back into his locker room and finds Hurricane in his closet. Hurricane and Rock go back & forth verbally and it’s funny but I really can’t remember nor do I feel like detailing anything that was said.

4) Test (w/ Stacy Keibler) vs. Chris Jericho

Before the match, Jericho pretended to apologize to Stacy for his actions, but just shows footage of Test signing girls boobs at the Girls Gone Wild thing. This pisses Stacy off at Test. Cameras catch them arguing backstage and Jericho finds it hilarious. Test tells Stacy to stay in the back and runs to the ring for his match. They start going at it and Stacy and Christian both end up at ringside. This was just a damn clusterfuck. Jericho wins after a bunch of shenanigans. Jericho & Christian set Stacy up for a conchairto, but Test makes the save and gets clobbered with the two chairs himself. Shawn Michaels is out next BY GOD. Shawn gets split open from a vicious chair shot by Jericho and damn… this went from playful to clusterfuck to intense real quick lol.

Jericho says he could end Michaels’ career now and calls him a son of a bitch so you know he’s really mad. Jericho wants Michaels one on one at WrestleMania so he can do it on a bigger stage. Jericho stands over a bloody Michaels with the chair while his music plays.

3MW and Rico are in the parking lot, still. A limo pulls up and they think it’s Austin, but it turns out to be Goldust.

Chris Nowinski is in the ring giving a speech about how he’s ready to see Austin get what he has coming to him. The Dudleys make a surprise appearance and show up behind him and nail him with a 3D. Huge pop as they leave through the crowd. They were too late to save Spike, but this’ll do!

Chris Jericho & Christian are backstage. They’re real happy with what they did to HBK and are excited to take out Austin when he shows up. They beat stuff with their pipes out of excitement because why not.

5) Booker T vs. Scott Steiner

This was about as anti climatic as it gets. It only goes a minute or two. Steiner somehow ends up busted open. Flair & H come out and Steiner is distracted so Booker wins off a roll up.

Match rating - *1/2

The Rock wants Eric Bischoff in his locker room and sends some random guy to go get him. Bischoff appears and The Rock has an issue with the “welcoming committee” that Bischoff has set up for Austin because The Rock wants to get his hands on Stone Cold first. Rock says he will join Smackdown again if Bischoff doesn’t give him what he wants.

Kane is backstage with a trash can. RVD kicks it out of his hands and Kane says “NOW THATS HARDCORE” apparently there is a hardcore multi man match next. RANDOM.

6) Rob Van Dam & Kane vs. Tommy Dreamer & Al Snow

Dreamer rolls Snow to the ring in a shopping cart and here’s our “ECW style” match for the month as it seems WWE likes to throw those in randomly during this time period. Couple trash can shots and two five star frog splashes ends it. Very short and fine for what it was. I’m talking sub 4 minutes if I had to guess.

Match rating - *3/4

Bischoff is in the parking lot to tell everyone to hold off from attacking Austin when he shows up and god damn Stone Cold comes blazing in fast as fuck in a truck and almost runs them over DEAR LORD.

Back from commercial and HES HERE. Austin starts talking about why he left and why he came back and thanks the fans. The Rock comes out to more newly adapted theme music. He talks some shit to Austin. Bischoff comes out and says next week Rock faces Booker T, if he wins he can either face Stone Cold or Triple H at WrestleMania, with the H match being for the World Title. Rock looks intrigued. Bischoff says the show is running late… 3 MINUTES TOO LATE. 3 Minute Warning is out. Jamal & Rosey try to take out Austin, but eat shit. Lou Thesz press to Rico. Austin clears house. The Rock hits the ring and goes nose to nose with Austin!!! Aw hell. This is way past it’s heyday, but this still feels huge. Rock backs away and then tries to attack Austin, they tease their finishers and Rock backs up the ramp to close the show while JR yells about how they’ll both be back next week.
